About Shawn:

People often ask me what kind of music I play and, honestly, it's a little bit of everything.

Most of my repertoire comes from the '70s, '80s and '90s, with some older favourites and a few newer songs mixed in along the way. I've always been drawn to songs that tell a story, songs people remember, and songs that bring back a memory the moment you hear the first few chords.

I perform as a solo acoustic musician throughout southeastern New Brunswick, playing in pubs, restaurants, community events, festivals, fundraisers, corporate functions and private gatherings. My goal has never been to put on a big production. I simply want people to relax, enjoy themselves, and maybe hear a song they haven't thought about in years.

Originally from Pictou, Nova Scotia, I picked up my first guitar at the age of eight, and music has been part of my life ever since. During my 21 years serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, I continued performing with various bands and musical groups throughout Canada, Western Europe, Cyprus and many other locations. Along the way, I also recorded with my original band JADE, later formed the Acoustic Duo JusToo, and had the privilege of opening for artists including April Wine, Matt Minglewood and Honeymoon Suite.

Songwriting has always been a creative outlet for me. More recently, I wrote and performed The Angels Cried for the Brothers in Arms video production, inspired by the courage and sacrifice of Canadian soldiers during the Second World War.

Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to perform at a variety of local venues and community events, meeting some wonderful people along the way. Those experiences have reminded me that live music isn't just about the songs—it's about bringing people together, one evening at a time. For me, the greatest compliment isn't applause; it's hearing someone say, "I haven't heard that song in years."

When I'm not performing, you'll usually find me travelling with my spouse, learning new songs, writing music in my home studio, or supporting local musicians, live music venues and community events through my website and social media. I believe a strong local music community benefits everyone, and I'm proud to play a small part in helping it grow.
